One of My Favorite Books Ever

I've loved reading the book since I was a kid. I've always felt it a romantic adventure. It's full of heart. But the movie sucks...

This one electrified my imagination. In fact I still escape to mountains, the desert. Any wilderness I can get to I try to go. The Appalachian Trail, at least the south end was a big dissapointment to me. Not very much of a real wilderness experience.

This is not the only great book on wilderness life.
Try "The Island Keeper" by Harry Mazer or "Woodswoman" by Anne LaBastille and "Cold River" by William Judson. "Cold River" has been filmed.

Alone in the Wilderness by Richard Proenneke is a great book on wilderness life too.

There are 2 other books that are sequels to My Side Of The Mountain.

On the Far Side of the Mountain and Frightful's Mountain are the next two.
I'm currently reading On the Far Side and just finished My Side of the Mountain. Guess by the time anyone sees this I'll be done with the whole series!
