Great news; thanks for sharing. I've been saying for years they should go that route with these two Hammer outings. Does anyone know if this will be the longer European cut of WHEN DINOSAURS RULED THE EARTH (ala Warner using the longer cut of TASTE THE BLOOD OF DRACULA for that DVD)?

reply

I bought the DVD on the first day of release, and the answer is YES. I've watched my lazerdisk of "When Dinosaurs Ruled The Earth" many times and was surprised to see quite a bit of additional footage on the DVD, including several nude scenes with Victoria Vetri. The film transfer is beautiful, very sharp and colorful. "Moon Zero Two" was boring, despite some good f/x and sets. I’ve never been so disappointed with a film I’ve waited so long to see.

P.S. BTW bob, I still have my Super-8 200" black and white, silent digest reel of Moon Zero Two (still in near-mint condition, after 35 years).

(Big smile) I've also still got my Super 8 digest of MOON ZERO TWO (along with WHEN DINOSAURS RULED THE EARTH, TASTE THE BLOOD OF DRACULA and FRANKENSTEIN MUST BE DESTROYED...among others.) Every so often, the old projector gets fired up. (To date, that's the only way I've got to see VAMPIRE CIRCUS.)

I always wanted to see this movie and now I got it.
I have the extended version of "When Dinosaurs ruled the Earth" too.

The extra scenes dont bother Me a bit.

Look for MOON ZERO TWO on Warner Archive DVD in the near future from the Warner Archive!

Until then, there are a few good bootlegs of MZ2 floating around in cyberspace for mail-order purchase, but I would prefer a real pressed-disc full WB DVD release with special features for this sci-fi classic, instead of a Warner Archive DVDR with no special features. I hope they at least include the original theatrical trailer. This is a great, fun popcorn movie!

No sign of a UK DVD release. Ah well. Still have my memories of childhood films intact.

It's available again as a DVD-R from Warner Home Archive.
