Or rather the other way around: After watching this now for a few times I'm noticing some ideas that appear to have been "borrowed" by TOTAL RECALL (1990), which is also about miners living and working on an Earth colonized planet/moon. First, the train ride to the city seems almost exactly like the one in TR, also the bit where the astronaut is being chased/menaced by the guy in the mining machine. The whole concept of having to go through immigration when arriving on the moon is used in TR, as is the fight scene with people floating through the air and crashing through walls (albeit for different reasons) as well as an outer space bar. There's also an evil, scheming rich dirtbag behind all of the troubles.

Can anyone think of any others?

I've not watched TOTAL RECALL in ages. Not sure if MZT had much of an influence on TR, after all the facilities in MZT are all glossy and vibrantly 70's MOD whereas the facilities in TR are grittier and look more like a futuristic 80s mall/airport IIRC, but it's a good excuse to revisit the movie.

I've never seen the movie before and I'm just now watching the Mystery Science Theater 3000 version. I noticed the similarities with Total Recall too. It just needed more topless three breasted women. ;)

I just watched the MST3K version, the guy nearly getting crushed by the mining machine reminded me of Total Recall.

Besides the misplaced cartoon title sequence and the Ocean's 11 music, this movie was actually pretty good. A lot better than you'd expect on MST3K. Didn't think it was any "worse" than This Island Earth.
