Also i think Lucifer Valentine takes the cake when it come to being the the most twisted director (he is almost as twisted than his films at that is saying alot).
You speak the truth. I recently sat through the entire vomit gore trilogy. As someone who's already seen Dead-Alive, August Underground, Cannibal Holocaust, and pretty much everything else, I can honestly say that despicable trilogy puts them all to shame. First time I actually felt "scarred" from a movie.
You're forgetting Pier Paolo Pasolini and Alejandro Jodorowsky. Funny, John Waters can remind me off them from time to time. This film for example reminded me a bit of Fando and Lis. Both awesome directors.
Do the giallo guys count btw? Bava, Fulci, Argento, Martino, etc.
