Yeah i agree it seems like it was tuberculosis especially with him getting a high fever but i dont know why his legs stopped moving that was something else

Never go to message boards while watching a movie you like, there will certainly be spoilers. Check IMDB after the movie. I've seen Midnight Cowboy at least 25 times.

I'll go with TB not helped by a very unhealthy lifestyle. He didn't want to go to a doctor. . ..but I don't know why.
sharewell he was broke with no nickels to rub. I believe only during clinton where people allowed to go to the emergency room with no insurance and I dont think NY gave free health insurance in 1969. That seems like recent events with obama (and maybe a little earlier at the state level)
