This flic is quite entertaining as we have a slew of capable supporting stars plus the legendary Bruce Lee !
O'Connor is pre-Archie Bunker and he plays edgy.Like Ken Tobey as his side-kick.Hunnicut is ravishing and menacing at the same time.The script is ok but at least keeps the viewer off-balanced and guessing.Garner is the main go-to-guy and he is a delight as a swaggering and solid private dick named Marlowe.
Too bad he did not do more as Chandler's immortal private investigator.

ps Honorable mention: Rita Moreno never disappoints !
