Any news of Mackenna's Gold getting a Blu Ray lift?

i think they would have to do a 4k restoration of the film before it made it to BR

BUT WHEN will this happen? I hate having to hunt for the widescreen DVD in standard quality. By the way, if you are searching for that elusive WS version, the four feature set has Mackenna's Gold in widescreen according to user Surfs2 in a another post.

Sidonis Calysta, a French company, has just released MG on Blu Ray. Unfortunately you would need a multi-region player and, even more annoyingly, the disc has French subtitles even on the English version that not all players can switch off (one of mine does, but it was hacked specially). Still, the PQ looks pretty damn good, so if you have a multi-region, you might take a punt...

Thanks so much! I had a look at amazon france but sadly the French subtitles cannot be removed even in the english version it says! Why would they do that? On another note it also shows how Mackenna's Gold was treasured round the world except in US! Puzzling!

I might still have a go at it!Thanks anyway!!

You'd imagine that there are plenty of English speaking French who wouldn't want or need the subtitles, wouldn't you? The French can be oddly parochial about such things, though. I should give it a bit more time: after all, where the French go, the Germans or the Spanish may soon follow, and I have rarely had problems with discs from either of those countries...
