Favorite Scenes

So, what is, or are your favorite scene(s) in The Love Bug. Two of my favorites involve Thorndyke:

Chinese Camp: An irate Thorndyke arguing with some elderly Chinese men, and how everyone is helping Herbie and company. Plus, you gotta love "Okay, you're on your way!" "HURRAY!!!"

Thorndyke and Havershaw's champagne: Thorndyke is brilliant, and I just LOVE "Geep!" (that choking sound Thorndyke makes).

reply

Thorndyke (sniggering like a cad): "There are times like this when I really don't like myself very much" (before gently nudging Herbie off the road in the Thorndyke Special). Hilarious line!

Also when Michelle Lee (Carole Bennett) is trapped inside Herbie, and asks the two Hippies for help:

Carole: "Help, I'm trapped. Can you help me?"
Hippie: "We all prisoners Chickie Baby. We all locked in"

The Chinese Camp scene.
Chinese Gas Attendant: "My father say, Hurry is waste. Waste is cracked bowl which never know rice."
Thorndyke, angrily: "I DON'T CARE HOW CRACKED YOUR FATHER'S RICE BOWL IS!"

The bear rides shotgun in the Thorndyke car. The bear growls at Thorndyke, scaring him.

"Now You're Playing With Power!"

I found out that Dean Jones plyed the hippie when I saw the behind the scenes DVD. That is a favorite of mine because of the hippie line. Also it gets me every time when I see Dean running up to save Herbie from commiring suicide. You really do feel the car is alive at that point.

Disney films were just different and better than other films of the 60's ans 70's. They are not the same anymore. I enjoy an old Disney film more than ever. There is no profanity, nudity, or dirty stuff. Fred Macmurray, Dean Jones, Kurt Russell and Hayley Mills are my favoirtes.

So hard to tell; there were a LOT of scenes that I loved.

I guess my top favourite is the hippie scene:

Carole: "Help, I'm trapped. Can you help me?"
Hippie: "We all prisoners Chickie Baby. We all locked in"

and the bear scene.

reply

I just saw the scene where Jim goes looking for Herbie and it gets me every time. It hard not to get emotional when you watch that whole scene where he ends up trying to save Herbie and then Herbie saves him.
