Shoddy and unmemorable. Editing seems choppy and inept. Early in the movie the camera switches between different scenes on the ship while a pop-like tune "java girl" plays in the background. How the hell does that bring the year 1883 to mind? This garbage makes Irwin Allen`s "...When Time Ran Out" look like a masterpiece.
I agree this movie is horrible as far as the acting and the editing. The destruction scenes however are pretty well done. The last 20 minutes of the film are great.
Dianne Baker is as bad here as she was in Silence of the Lambs, Brian Keith was pretty bad too.
Still love the tidal wave and lighthouse scene.

badly edited, senseless, plotless and shoddy, the scale of the volcano is so out and the most continuity errors ever.

I thought it was very good for the 1960s....and for being one of "those kind of disaster movies". Agree, there are things which date it, (wince....the soundtrack!!!!) but if one were to compare it to "Volcano" for example....

Sure, the acting and editing were not the film's highlight.
But the Volcanic Eruption and Tsunami scenes were well done, considering they were all done with miniatures.
Just saw the film on BBC2 today and think I like it more than When Time Run Out which would get a 5 and I gave this a 6.
