This is within the general territory of Witchfinder General, The Devils, or The Crucible (1957, 1996), but I am inclined to think it superior to all of these. 17th century witch finders, 20th century McCarthyites, Stalinists, Nazis... there's not so much difference between these characters, is there? British viewers may observe a striking resemblance between Vladimir Smeral and Michael Bryant (Roads to Freedom, etc).
