Was David Bradley 17 when he filmed Kes!?

I've only seen clips of the movie, but assuming the lead role in Kes was played by this David Bradley, and if the birthdate on his page is correct, he must've been at least 16 years old in this film! And yet he looks 9 or 10 years old. That's pretty astonishing. I know actors frequently don't play their age, but he was very slight for a 16 year old boy.

When I saw it on TCM a few months ago they said how old he was... I think it was either 14 or 15.

He was born in 1955 and the film was shot in the summer of 1968, so he would have been 13 at the time.

He was born in 1953 so he would have been 14 or 15.

When I first saw this I thought he was about 12 or first year age. That was until the bit bit where they give all the fags to a first year (age 12) and you could see he was a lot bigger than the first year.

You do always get one or two tiny guys in high school. One of my best mates from school is a 5' 2" adult.

The year given as the year of his birth on his IMDb biography had been 1955 for years and has only been recently changed to 1953. All I can say is if he was 15 in 1968, he certainly looked small for his age. In fact, if he was indeed born at the end of September, 1953, then he would still have been 14 when the filming took place in July and August, 1968. This would tie in with the storyline that he was about to leave school.
