Best British movie ever? Discuss

Gets better each time you watch it. How they could ever have considered a remake, I've no idea?!

reply

The remake was terrible! Although the British 60's groovy feel of the pic is just wonderful, if I where to remake it I would have kept it a all British leading cast with the lead of Charlie Croker, the same charm and sex appeal as Mr.Cain at that time. This film is a cocky, cheeky hiest drama and it's remake went in some other direction. In it's essense It's a British story (remember it's England who play Italy in world cup in the film) The original idea and story played to the working classes and that is why we love it! This would be a nice project for Guy Richie to reassemble with Mr.Cain playing Noel Coward role! Guy, if you read this get intouch please. I'm in New York and can source financing.

No.

I like it (much more than the remake) but as far as best British movies what about Life of Brian, MP and The Holy Grail, Get Carter, The Long Good Friday, Kind Hearts and Coronets etc?

reply

It’s definitely one of them I agree.
