Well, in my opinion, no, but of course others may react differently.

My personal context is that this sort of movie bemuses me, mostly in the sense of trying to recapture the magic of watching movies at my small town theatre, which would play something like this on Sat, and then a family flick on Sunday pm, and then something like Barefoot In the Park on Sunday night; or, a few years later, in the city downtown theature that specialized in "provocative" movies.

Eugenie struck me as odd. One isn't looking for Oscar-level or 'top-100-if-all-time' profundity with a movie like that, and it's quite unlikely that one is looking for a universal experience to share with friends and spouse.

So, what might one look for? A certain amount of sexual tension, hopefully with an edge, as might befit a pre-political-correctness movie? Some fright and/or thrills related to genuine suspense, or some daring visuals? Or perhaps, a kernel of a resonant plot or character development.

I found none of any of that in Eugenie.

The women certainly looked attractive in their nude scenes. The sex scenes, contrary to the review posted here, were short, and something short of inspiring. There was virtually nothing evocative of bondage, sadism or masochism. There was a bit of violence, I'd say seconds worth, mostly implied rather than on-camera. I watched the movie while on the treadmill, so listened to the dialogue in real time, which reminded me to watch these things on fast forward :)

The best part, I think, was the 17 minutes of interviews on the DVD extras.
