Long overdue for a DVD release.

This film has long been ignored by TV and the home video market, as has GORATH, ATRAGON and BATTLE IN OUTER SPACE. Isn't it time it gets the attention it deserves?

I've seen this movie on TV in Germany. There are also two video releases.

DVD box set coming out in Japan. Doubt it'll have English subs. Was there a tv series also? Maybe that's what this is, there are four volumes.

The Japanese DVD box set that was just released from Toho Video is the first legitimate home video release anywhere in the world. This was reportedly due to rights issues that no one could explain to any degree of satisfaction. Any other versions issued on home video were gray market and not authorized. The aforementioned DVD boxset comes with three versions of the film -- in anamorphic widescreen and remastered sound (where available):

1. The original Japanese theatrical version (89 mins) with audio commentary by Akira Takarada. Original 2.0 mono. Special Features include interviews with members of the Visual Effects crew, deleted scenes, production designs and the original theatrical pamphlet book.

2. The original US theatrical version (105 mins) with special features and audio commentary by Masami Okada. This version is indeed in ENGLISH with removable Japanese subs and has a 2006 5.1 remix!

3. Toho Champion Festival version, prepared for Kiddie Matinees in the early 1970s, which runs 68 mins. Containing special features such as the tie-in audio version of the film issued on flexi-disc.

Like most Japanese premium presentations, this box set is beautiful, and comes in a metallic box -- with a 40-page booklet on the film -- for images, check out Toho Video's official page for their release of LATITUDE ZERO at http://www.toho-a-park.com/video/new/ido0/d_index.html

I thought it had been released since I've had it for some time.

I just read on DVD Drive In that Media Blasters is releasing this one next year.
