Poor lighting


I saw this film at the drive-in. It was so darkly filmed, that you really couldn't see much of anything.

I suspect that it was the print and/or projection.
Projection is the problem 9 times out of 10.
On professionally-made feature films scenes where an audience couldn't see anything wouldn't make a final cut.

You'd think. I did see it at the drive-in. That could have been part of the problem. But then...it was American International Pictures. On the other hand, I've never seen that issue with any other AIP flick before or after. And I've seen alot. You're probably right.

It's not surprising that the movie was going to be called 'The Dark.' I've heard that the old VHS copies were so shadowy that it was hard to follow the film. But the DVD version is lit just right so that there is no problem following the action even in the old house.
