So....it ends with them showing Navy Seals, the Air Force and who knows whom else launching a major attack on The Onion. Was this fun lil Disney-esque flick making a statement on Vietnam?

It seems this was indeed the case. Foolish military attacking our movie's heroes, equating the Miller family, Merv, the Websters, the Green Onion and everyone else with poor defenseless Viet Nam.
