i thought this would be another dull, dated war movie. and for the most part it is!

but michael j pollard is hilarious... i dont think ive seen such a funny performance in a war film in all my life. and i own nearly 300 movies!

so many classic bits (train goes past, he pushes the detonator. nothing happens. he shrugs)

oh and the hilarious dubbing esp. in th rescue scene.

also oliver reed's reaction at the cable car (comedy shudder)

brill.

I watched this a few years ago and from what I can remember when the bomb fails to explode he shrugs, then somewhere along the line, the train slips or something due to the logs on the line and Packy starts to bluff that the detonator slips up the train lol!

Pollard "almost" stole the movie from Reed. He kinda reminds me of Donald Sutherland in Kellys Heroes.
