I trust you are watching... what did the blonde just say in the parlor when Carl was engaging the Senator on war...? I swear she said "Balls!"... then Carl state she was the voice of youth or some such, right before he took a swing at his brother's insult.

I thought this TV movie did more FOR the concept of military action than talk its way out of it. The idealistic rant the main character made to the Senators at the dinner party had the opposite effect, at least for me. I, in fact, thought (wrongly) that this film was a propaganda attempt at pro-military action as opposed to hippie anti-war sentiments, then I thought out the ideals of actors in the 60s, namely Michael Douglas, and was confused.
The hippies didn't "think things through"- they just spouted off tired phrases, not seeing the big picture. They scream "Peace"!" yet pretend obliviousness to reality. A reality of living on this Cursed Earth is grasping the fact there is evil, and mere love and good feelings do not conquer all. They claimed to be fighting against the establishment? They WERE the establishment!
