Pierre Etaix dies at 87


Death of the actor, clown and filmmaker Pierre Etaix



The family of Peter Etaix announced Friday, Oct. 14 death on the morning of the actor, clown, director and designer at the age of 87 years. "Pierre Etaix is no longer" , said his wife Odile, adding that the artist, who "fought against an infection of the intestines" had been admitted to emergency Friday morning.

Discreet, the artist had worked with Jacques Tati and Annie Fratellini, who was his wife.

He directed several films such as "Yoyo" (1965), "Until you have health" (1966) or "The Great Love " (1968), the long invisible film because of a legal mess before the court renders him in 2009 his royalties on five feature films and two short films.

His interpretation of a lunar character was part of the legacy of slapstick masters of cinema dumb, Buster Keaton, Charlie Chaplin, Laurel and Hardy, Harry Langdon, Harold Lloyd and Max Linder.
