Jason Biggs is almost the perfect casting for Neil. Maybe too nice. I almost said he is the only possible casting but then I remembered Andrew Garfield (Eduardo in Social Network) who resembles Richard Benjamin in looks, voice and mannerisms.

Megan Fox is pretty and bratty enough to be Brenda. But perhaps not intelligent enough. Thinking...maybe Emma Stone? She is probably a good enough actress to play spoiled and bratty. Or maybe even Rooney Mara? There is a girl with looks, brains and sass http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-cLnDJPCtBzk/T0wG0i4x-FI/AAAAAAAADjc/gfm30IQl jd8/s1600/Rooney-Mara-2012-Oscars.jpg

I think maybe Kevin Spacey is too cynical and snarky to be Mr. Patimkin. How about...Michael Chiklis? He is good at playing tough and grumpy with a soft spot.

Yeah, the subject matter may be too dated for a remake but it is still fun to think of potential cast members anyway.

You cant remake this. The subplot in this movie is their angst about premarital sex. I rented this movie in the late 80s just to refresh my memory and realized that one of the most controversial movies of the 70s had now become passe'. These days with hook ups would make people want to say WTF is their problem? It's day is gone.

Interesting point but through minute 50 of the movie, the main, huge conflict is the fact that the guy is a poor library boy and the girl and her parents are turned off by that.

As for the reluctance of have premarital sex, that reluctance persists to this day for a lot of different reasons, among some people but not others, so it's not a big deal.

There never can be a re-make~~~~things aren't this uncomplicated anymore. That's why today's movies are such garbage.
