Rate Peter Watkins' Films

His full-length films only that is. TV works are included (once for a change in this 'series' of threads) since many of his films were made for television.

Sadly, I've seen only 3 of his films and am VERY interested in your opinion of his work...

Please rate his films you've seen (out of 10, or 4-star system, or 'from best to worst'), post/add your comments, recommendations, etc. Thanks for your participation. ANY feedback very welcome.

My humble 'impressions' (rates) are added.

Filmography:

La commune (Paris, 1871; 2000)
Fritänkaren (The Freethinker, 1994, V)
The Media Project (1991)
Resan (The Journey, 1987)
Aftenlandet (Evening Land, 1977)
70'ernes folk (The Seventies People, 1975, TV)
Fällan (The Trap, 1975, TV)
Edvard Munch (1974, TV)
Punishment Park (1971) 10/10
Gladiatorerna (The Gladiators, 1969) 10/10
Privilege (1967) 9/10
The War Game (1965) 10/10
Culloden (The Battle of Culloden, 1964, TV) 9/10

P.S. - If you've seen his short films please feel free to rate/comment on them as well. NO limits here. Thanks.

EDIT! Seen 2 more. YAY!

"Wouldn't it be better to post this on the board of Peter Watkins himself?"

Almost certainly NOT. I have some very bad experiences already ('popular' directors have much traffic on their 'own' message boards and such 'less popular' threads tend to get lost far behind...until they got deleted by IMDb (due to lack of 'activity', just the same as on all message boards, sad but true *sigh*).

Besides, the only responses I actually get are from people who find these threads via my Profile (it's the shortest/quickest way to find them anyway). The rest is just pure coincidence (I'm doing this for years, I should know *smile*). You're the *first* one who noticed this thread after quite some time!!! *shock*

"The War Game - 10
Edvard Munch - 10+
La Commune - 10+"

This is really nice to see. My (already high) 'expectations' are even higher now.

"Best filmmaker I got into in 2009. The man's techniques of mixing documentary and fiction are mind-blowing. Other than Kiarostami I can't think of anyone who gets even close to him in this aspect. I can't wait to watch his other stuffs."

Yep yep. He surprised me big time (and over and over again). I'm also eager to see the rest of his filmography. Alas (since I can't afford to buy anything) it's a long way to some of his films.

Thank you VERY much for your feedback. Much appreciated, as always.

Thank you very much for your feedback. As you can see is this thread quite lonely (what a surprise knowing where we are, eh? ).

Gladiatorerna (The Gladiators, 1969) 10
The War Game (1965) 10
Culloden (The Battle of Culloden, 1964, TV) 9

Bingo! Always great to see we agree completely. Respect and praise.

I saw bits of Edvard Munch on TV and it looked amazing. I'll make sure i watch it in the future because it may as well be his ultimate masterpiece.

This one is my next 'in line' as well (I tried to see all his earlier ones before jumping at it and I did it, yay!). Yep, it's so famous and highly praised I'm actually a bit worried already (I trust Watkins, but how much 'better' can Cinema be than all those films above? ).

Thanks also for ALL the rates on other humble threads of mine (of the same 'series'). I might not have the opportunity to comment on all of them, but stay assured I read them all and I'm grateful for all your contributions.
