Two different dubs

Most of us have seen the MST3K version of this with the hilarious dubbing that to me is just as funny as anything Joel and the bots say. But I recently bought a version that came in a 12 movie value pack at Best Buy with a completely different dubbing job on it. It is a better dubbing of the film but not nearly as funny.

The version which was shown in the US during the 1970s was from AIP. They did a more or less "straight" English language dub, but edited some bits out for a shorter feature. This is the version which is on most DVDs.

In the 1980s, Sandy Frank got TV rights to Gamera movies, as well as some other things. He had his own dubs done, which are known for being crazy. These seemed to be ineptly made up on the spot. These were what people mostly saw on TV in the 1980s-90s.

Both versions are worth seeing, depending upon how you want to appreciate the movie.

While this dub is certainly better, it sadly lacks some of the better scenes. Like Guiron chopping up SpaceGyaos into pieces.
