Lesbian love?

The poster indicates that this might possibly be a lesbian love story. Is it so? Please tell me. I've never seen it and the poster art fascinates me.

Not as such. It's a spy movie, not the L Word.

The Fräulein Doktor uses her sexual wiles primarily on men to further Imperial Germany's war aims. However when trying to steal the poison gas formula developed by Dr. Capucine, she can do this only by seducing the lady inventor. As a patriot, no sacrifice is too great when undertaken on behalf of Gott und Kaiser.

For the time in a mainstream movie with name actresses, it was actually a rather daring scene. But it is only one scene. Unsurprising it would be the movie poster though. I guess men in 1969 were no different from men in 2008.

Overall a pretty good movie and a lovely soundtrack. The Fräulein Doktor Waltz is one of Ennio Morricone's prettiest compositions.

Doktor ,,allows'' herself to be seduced by Saforet, then kills her and steals the formula. The tagline refers to the fact that this particularly nasty poison gas will be used in the famous climactic scene that features cavalrymen and horses that look like spectres because of their gas masks and the long coats that protect the horses.

Not sure what you watched as I certainly saw a seduction by Fraulein Doktor (actress Suzy Kendall) over a Dr. Saforet (actress Cupacine) as FD wanted to steal the Saforet's poison gas formula. Do you recall Doktor shooting Saforet while she sat at her desk?

Anyway ... fear not Puritans ... there is no skin shown ... just a very strong suggestion of something happening between two very beautiful women.
