I searched for this film for years...

...seeking a title to go with an imperfect memory of a woman, surrounded by hundreds of yowling cats, who dropped a dish of meat into a chest, then was pursued to a ladder, from which she subsequently fell. I described the scene on the 'Horror' board, and 'Need to Know;' no one ever had an answer.

I was looking up 1969 trailers on Youtube, and came across it quite by accident. Just from viewing the trailer it was evident that this was the film.

I'm surprised that this hasn't seen an official release, if nothing else occasioned by the death of Michael Sarrazin earlier this year.

The film also seems to be poorly understood, judging from various online descriptions of it which, IMO, give it short shrift. This one, by Black Hole Reviews, typifies them:

The negetive reviews for this flick usually relate to viewers who have seen the most widely circulated version - known as the 'tv version'- which is heavily censored. Avoid the cut version if you can. I guess these reviewers think they are getting the full version and find it tame. Oddly enough, the uncut version has been widely shown on european TV since the seventies, though less so in the last ten years.

I saw this in the theater when it came out. I do remember enjoying it and hope to see it again soon. The wheelchair scene was memorable.

Luckily i recorded this on to video way back in the 80's when it was shown uncut on British TV. Transferred it to DVD and the copy is pretty good.

Have never seen a DVD release of this cool little thriller and since the 90's has only ever appeared on TV in its cut form.
