Possible Remake

What about a remake? Perhaps this time we could learn a little bit more about
who these people really were. Also maybe Captain Agustus could be a planner
who pulled the wool over everyone's eyes. Anyone agree or disagree?

Definitely!

But who would make it? I could see someone like Quentin Tarrantino or his buddy Robert Rodriguez interested in a project like this. I was thinking of possible actors and then it struck me: why don't they use women this time?! It could really work. As long as they don't make it like Bad Girls or Charlie's Angels (both of which, if I'm not mistaken, coincidentally have Drew Barrymore). And not quite like Kill Bill either. It wouldn't really ruin the film as not too many people have seen the original anyway.

Here's a possible cast:
Dutchlady - Kim Basinger
Mesita - Queen Latifah
Augustus - Sigourney Weaver
Samurai - Maggie Cheung
Dominguez - Michelle Rodriguez
Estaban - Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio
Guiterrez - Anjelica Huston
Samurai's girlfriend - Eva Longoria (if Brokeback Mountain can do it...)

Only male parts would be the villagers and the soldiers.

How about it?!

Who am I kidding? Nobody will probably ever even read this.

True.

Though, some remakes are enjoyable. Plus, they are great for getting younger viewers into the story, particularly if the original is fairly old. I think it's best when the movie is an adaptation of a novel. It's good to see how someone visualises the story from a book. Which is why I am eagerly awaiting the rumoured remake of Papillon. I loved the original film but I would like to see a fresh version that perhaps follows the story through to the very end and includes a few more details and a few less alterations.

Maybe a prequel or sequel to 5 Man Army would work? Or at least a new spin on it: 5 Woman Army :)
