Where is the rest of this movie?

I was all set to make room for it in my mental Truffaut pantheon ,but then it freaken ends after a measly 86 minutes! It was so good! What the hell happens to the kid! Does Robespierre take him away? I need closure! Why Francois?! Why!? Do you need more money? Come back and I'll finace the rest of it! ARGH!!

Are you asking him to come back from the dead to do a sequel?

Anyway, it would've been nice to know what happened to the kid, but it's much too late for a sequel. Truffaut should've done one back in the early 70's with the same kid.

The child grew and lived under the care of his nurse for the rest of his life. He never learned more than a few words (it's a pity they didn't do sign language, which may have taken them much further). I think after a few more years with Victor, the Doc went on his way. You can find out more as they're plenty of books about the boy. Or just go to feralchildren.com

Apparently Dr. Jean Itard went on to be very influential in several medical fields. Including child development, hearing/sensory education and tourettes. Very impressive life.

No two persons ever watch the same movie.

In terms of ideas behind the film, it ends in exactly the right place, I think. Victor has come back, made the decision to stick with 'civilisation', although the look he gives Itard at the end suggests a good deal of resentment along with his acceptance, I'd say. That look seems to crystallise the conflict at the heart of the film.

Since it's a true story, anyone who wants to know the rest of it can pretty easily find out.

I used to want to change the world. Now I just want to leave the room with a little dignity.

I was a little surprised by the sudden ending. I kind of was hoping they'd explore his adulthood a little, or at least give captions at the end about what happened. Had to read about it.

I was too. I really wanted to see more. But alas, that's all there is.
