Blu Ray Transfer

Looks fantastic. I am watching this movie as i write this. It is a 1:33 cut. the video specs on imdb says it was originally a 2:35 cut. I assume that negative is lost forever. this one looks great though

Lewis rarely shot in 2:35-1, so I wonder if that is an error?

It's an error. The blu-ray looks mind bogglingly stunning actually and is a 2K restoration from their original camera negetives, done by a new studio called Vinegar Syndrome. The blu-ray includes Linda and Abilene aswel as Black Love aswel. They all look equally gorgeous. It's actually bizarre how great they look.

Agreed. There is no way this was ever 2.35:1. When I saw that all three "Lost" titles are presented on the Blu-ray/DVD at 1.33:1, I assumed they must be open matte, and the opening credits are formatted as such, so I started watching Ecstasies enlarged to 1.78:1 on my HDTV. But after about 10 minutes I realized that the framing was way too tight that way, to put it mildly (numerous cut off heads, etc.), and switched back to full frame, and from then on everything looked properly framed. So these must have been shot 1.33:1 full frame.

The Vinegar Syndrome titles, and the SW weird remasters as well, do look spectacular, far better than (hugely entertaining) trash like this warrants, but I'm not complaining. My only (minor) complaint about the "Lost" set is that there is no discussion in the liner notes about how and where these films were finally rediscovered. I was really hoping for some background on that, but no dice.

Bottom line, if you're an HGL fan, you need these in your collection.
