Were any Doors/Iron Butterfly songs considered for the soundtrack?

Velvet Underground as well. There's also some cool tracks in Midnight Cowboy that would have fit nicely here.

This isn't a party, it is a movie. Songs were chosen to move the story along.

I mean in place of what they chose, not in addition to.

They wanted to use Yellow Submarine but The Beatles wouldn't let them.
