Dragnet 66 edited

Shout Entertainment has just released Season Two of Dragnet 68. Disc one contains the pilot "Dragnet 66" which was the pilot for the proposed revival of the series. Unfortunately the true crime vignette that opened the movied has been excised from the print. Amazing that a scene shown on broadcast television 40 years ago has been deleted from the DVD release. This is not paying tribute to Jack Webb as he directed the film and the scene.

According to the Dragnet group on Yahoo, the
copy of Dragnet 1966 that made it to the new
DVD was the only one in Universal's LA vault.

Of course, after the project was completed, a
copy with the missing intro was found in a
Universal vault in New York.

Shout! will be offering free replacement copies
of the DVD in the near future. You might want
to check out the Dragnet Yahoo group for more
details.

I need to get a replacement DVD copy. The only reason I knew there was a prologue is because I had a very bad VHS copy of the film.

Just send an email to Shout! Factory stating
that you need a new DVD with the complete
Dragnet 1966. I bought two copies, one for
me and one for my Sister In Law, sent Shout!
an email, and they sent us both copies within
a week.

I did that on Monday and I got the new copy last night. Has the intro and everything. I wasn't sure they would send it to me since I bought the DVD back in November. But they sent it right out. Very happy.
