Great film!

I'm impressed! This could have easily turned into "just another sports movie", but kept letting us know that the sport was not what was important, it was just the setting for this character study. It was funny when they cut the shot right before a score was announced or such, just to punish the viewer for sitting on the edge of his seat wanting to know the outcome of the run. We've all watched too many sports shows and tend to think this way as a result! I actually found the pacing quite brisk (relative to the other films I've seen lately, which are definitely not hollywood action flicks). Interesting and realistic characters. Chappellet was very complex, and it's hard to decide just how you feel about him by the end. I think the role of women in the film wasn't all that clear, and is perhaps the weak point of this film since so much time is spent on romances.
