Ski Products Mentioned

I only heard of Head skis and saw Carrera snow goggles. Any others anybody noticed?

Lange boots, very prominently and repeatedly.

There were a few other brands of boots shown in those stylish inserted close ups, though I can't remember them off the top of my head. I think some of those shots may have been grabbed at real races.

Machet skis were, of course, mentioned (Chappelet found them a little stiff for him, though Guy assured him that provided stability). I don't remember ever actually seeing a pair. In the scene at the Machet offices you'd think there'd be some sitting around, but I don't think they were. The skis that Carole (Camilla Sparv) used should presumably have been Machets, though they were Heads with the name taped over (when being taken out of her car's ski rack) or just Heads without even bothering with the tape (at the top of the back bowls run).

The skis used in the shots completely made by the filmmakers were, I think, universally Heads. Most likely Head supplied them as a promotional item. The bindings on those skis were a plate design that I think would've been odd at the time for use by racers. I'm not sure what they were, though I recall that Head produced a plate binding for a few years back in the day, so there's a decent chance that was their identity. They might also have been Bessers (or maybe Heads were Bessers with a different name on them).

In the grabbed shots from real ski races, there were various brands visible, but only fleetingly. I think I remember Kneissl's droopy star associated with the Austrian star Max Meier - I guess Head would be okay with that, since he was a nominal (though scarcely present on screen) antagonist.

In the stylish close ups, in addition to a few other boot brands, there were also some other bindings. Markers and Looks, to my recollection - which makes sense, as they were pretty common race bindings at the time.

Plate bindings! Including two models of Heads.

A few years after the movie, though only a few. To my recollection, the movie bindings looked more like the Besser and Geze models in the photo than the Head, but that may just reflect changes between 1969 and 1973.
