Who rescued Bill (Spoiler?)

Sorry to ask, but I've seen this film in interrupted segments several times, and have never actually discovered the answer. Was the man who rescues young Bill from the burning house (the one with the skull pendant) Ryan?

If you saw the scenes just before the final showdown when Ryan is shaving you will have your answer.
