I am not sure who did it, I would have to watch the film again, as to how, if I remember right He used a lantern, as to why, no possible witnesses to come back and identify them.

I think it was Walcott who used his last shot as he was walking out to shoot the lantern and start the fire.

I was wondering why they wasted so many bullets on shooting up the cabinets and dishes and *beep* after everyone was dead, especially when they were about to burn the place anyway. Don't waste bullets man.
I liked later on when Ryan chastised Bill for using 4 shots on that one guy.

What you say DOES make sense but as I recall Walcott (I agree he was the arsonist) but if you noticed he stopped as if it might been a afterthought but that's true enough but perhaps it was to show how brutal they were after all had they not foregotten they would have murder a 7 yr old child but perhaps that's why Walcott did so if anyone MIGHT still be alive the fire would have killed them for sure

That's what bandits did back then, they killed, raped, pillaged, & burnt houses down. Peope back then worked hard so their children could inherit their property. Having your property stolen & your house burnt to the ground was 1 of the worst things that could happen to you, almost as bad as death itself.
Plus as somebody else already said, it removes all evidence of the crime.

Good movie, was on TVS (Sydney, Aus) just now, LVC makes any movie great, no matter how bad the plot is. :)
