Has anyone seen this movie?

I really want to know if it's any good because I heard the soundtrack and it moved me.

I watched its DVD last night, and as an Alain Delon fan who has been looking for this movie for a long time, I enjoyed it. However, after this long time and in comparison with recent thrillers, I didn't find it perfect but still amusing.

I saw it when it was released in New York in 1970 and again on the Fox Movie Channel, where it is sometimes shown in pan and scan, sometimes in widescreen format, but always dubbed. The Sicilian Clan represents a peak of French commercial movie making - it had three of the top stars in France then, Gabin, Delon and Ventura. Henri Verneuil was a fine action director. Since 20th Century Fox's European division was financing this movie, the production values are tops. Irina Demick, reportedly Darryl Zanuck's former girlfriend, lights up the screen, her performance stands on its own merits. While the ending seems contrived, there isn't a crime picture made now that can hold a candle to The Sicilian Clan. I agree that Morricone composed a fine score for this movie, but that is why he got the job. The producers were hiring the best talent they could get. If and when this great crime picture gets a DVD release in the States, I will buy the DVD.

i grew up with it too. saw it in new york around 1969-1971, as a fresh immigrant. very influential. big fan of Alain Delon. very underrated here in America. Criterion is starting to release alot of his classics. i guess he's being rediscovered on DVD. wish they would come out with this one, and Once a Thief on DVD

Fox movie channel showed it two nights ago- it was good from what I saw but I had an obligation and couldn't watch all of it- not sure if/when I'll be able to catch it again. Wish I had seen more of it

It's a fantastic movie. One of the best of the crime caper genre. I think it's extremely underrated. And why no US DVD release? Morricone's score is used very sparingly, but is wonderfully effective. Very good twists and reversals. Old school all the way.

I just saw the movie on Fox. I swore it was that terrible Christopher Lambert movie which I think is called the Sicilian so I passed it up previously. This is a movie that is in a class of its own. I came over here to see if I can get it on DVD. I loved it I was on pins and needles toward the end of the movie when the women realized something was fishy going on when her husband was not on the airplane. In a american movie she would of played dumb and never would of made the call to the hotel. Whe that little boy made the comment about the man and woman on TV I thought I was going to die. It was a smart intelligent movie that doesn't insult us with a hair brain caper. Great movie.

This movie is on my top10-list (and I am VERY critical in my choice of favorit movies). I was hooked the first time I saw the movie on tv, but I was too young too really understand it (maybe 6 or 7 years) - I couldn't really read the subtitles yet (I am Danish).

The only thing thats not working is the special effects, when the plane lands on the highway - but it doesn't matter.

THIS MOVIE IS GREAT
