DVD!!!!!!!!!

I'm really looking foward for this movie on DVD! I know it's coming out on next thursday and I think that Cher looks incredible in this. She's a very talented actress, we have to give her that!

I really enjoyed it.

I thought it was great too. I'm not sure why it was bashed so badly. Probably because it was a gritty story made by a pretty square couple of people. Sonny and Cher were desperate for work and were trying to fit into the 60's counterculture like everyone else. It didn't work, but at least they tried.

early 70's culture! One of my favorite shows in the late 60s early 70s was Sonny and Cher! I was so pleased to find this DVD on half.com and fully intend to purchase it. I really love Cher. I think she is fabulous!

Chastity's motivation is to find a way to be loved having been a victim of molestation. Like many who suffer from abuse they try and manipulate their relationships for fear of connecting or on the other hand looking to connect any way that they can.

This film is so incredible and ahead of its time on a psychological level, it was perhaps too heavy for a generation that was learning the meaning and certain values in defiance - especially women. Cher's performance to become three-dimensional is by far mesmerizing and a true gem in proving she had it as a thespian way back when.

I have to respectfully disagree about the quality of this film. Honestly, I purchased the "Cher film collection" DVD box set (in which this was included), and it took me about 10 segmented viewings to get through this movie (but I persisted because I love Cher).
(My opinion) The script was worse than the worst Monkees episode. The acting (other than Cher, who in this one was "Afterschool Special" OK) makes "Surf Nazis Must Die" look good. It was painful to watch, but I finally got through it. Was like having a root canal done to me. Just saying.
But the next movie on the box set is "Silkwood", when Cher finally had a great script and role to showcase her real acting ability (actually, she was great in "Come Back to the 5 & Dime Jimmy Dean" too, which was before Silkwood, but wasn't a big enough picture).

Please do not attack me for my opinions...we're all entitled to them. :)

I'm extremely pleased to read your comments, mrnocal, because I was reading through the plethora of rave reviews here and thought maybe I had entered the twilight zone. Nothing about this film was even remotely praise-worthy, and other than affording me a chance to appreciate Cher's young beauty, it bordered on camp in its sheer awfulness. As you said, it's just our opinion, and I'm not looking to get bashed, either. I guess we say to-may-to, they say to-mah-to...

Right. Well, I have to-- I have to go now, Duane, because I, I'm due back on the planet Earth.
