'Castle Keep''s Roll in the REAL 'Amityville Horror'

According to several sources (including amityvillehorror.com and ABC's "PrimeTime Thursday"), this is the movie that Ronald DeFeo, Jr. watched immediately before he brutally murdered all of his six family members in the middle of the night at home in Amityville, NY in November of 1974. That horrible tragedy went on to help inspire the movies in the famous "The Amityville Horror" series, which are based on the events and strange goings-on that happened to the family that moved into the house a year after the murders. So this is a case of when movies can lead to events that inspire other movies.

Thats pure BS, He went out and bought a rifle, a Marlin 336 Deer Rifle in 35 Remingtion. Very popular with the Catkill Deer Hunting Camps. I mention this because a lot of those camps back then, were private and lot of the members came from Long Island. So those rifles would be quite common. They still are. What he did was decide to kill everybody in the house, for reasons, only he knows. He then when on to say anything to beat a murder charge. Being in a Nut house is better than a prison like attica. The Idea is after a while you get judged to be sane and let go. Nobody bought it. Its like it must be what the lady wore that cause her to get raped or It must be somthing america did to poor Mr. Atta to fly an airplane in to the trade towers. Both don't wash, most who rape or murder do it because they like doing it. Its that simple. Atta and in this case DeFeo didn't get what they wanted. Atta buddies are being hunted down and distroyed and DeFeo he's in prison. Now as for the movie, one of my favorites, Winter 1944 just before Christmas, Its known in the History books as The Battle of the Bulge 16 Dec 1944 to 24 Jan 1945. U.S Army lost 19000 KIA and another 30000 WIA. A Mid Night Clear is another one that looks at that period of time and a film worth seeing or owning.

According to the documentary AMITYVILLE: THE HAUNTING, Ronald Defeo Jr. was watching "Castle Keep" the very same night of the murders. He claimed that while watching the violent film, he thought he heard his family whispering and that they were conspiring to kill him.

This another thread that I'm responding to that is more than four years old, but here goes, anyway.

It is a FACT that he was watching "Castle Keep" in the moments immediately leading up to the killings...in fact, it may well have been still playing on TV while the killings took place. Now as to whether or not he really believes that he heard the voices of his family conspiring against him (I know he didn't really hear them, but maybe he thought he really heard them while he was under the influence) or whether he made that up to get out of prison is up for speculation, but it is definitely true he was watching this movie that fateful evening.
