What happened to Sgt DeVaca? (Michael Conrad)

He was wounded and Beckman moved him to the chapel, later when asked where the woman was he replied "I last saw her in the chapel with DeVaca".

It's assumed he died but it was never shown. The last we did see of him in the film he was alive.
