masterpiece?

i got this movie in the 1$ bin at wal mart expecting to see a terrible, generic, cliched, stereotypical blaxploitation movie. boy was i suprised, i never knew richard pryor was in any dramatic films, that was a little wierd, not to mention Lando Calrissian, who had the performance of his career as lewis.
This movie is really powerful, i have a racist uncle. im sure after i show him this movie, though, he too will know what its like to feel black man's fury. my favorite character, though, was big jim. i cried buckets when he was shot and killed by -spoilers- a nazi with a gun. it was so sad. there was alot of good in this movie. too bad the oscars weren't invented when it came out because it would have won alot of things for its superb direction and seamless editing!

I was surprised that this film which, I expected to be an absurdly racist comedy, intentionly or not, turned out to be a pretty decent drama about WWII. I'm not saying that the film was oscar worthy, but in my opinion the charecter development was done well, and overall it wasn't as badly made as the average dollar bin movie.

Ryan, the actor you are refering to as Lando Calrissian(Star Wars) is Billy Dee Williams. Yes, this is a very good movie. Sorry that your uncle is a racist. Pray for him, that God will give him wisdom to know the difference and that to be a racist is evil. Oscars were around way before this movie came out..smile!

I also enjoyed this film... The film had a kinda "TV Pilot" feel to it, but so what... I scored my copy for 6 dollers @ Big Lots (with 19 other films) called "Combat Pack", and most of the other films are pretty dang good too!
Look it up.

Trust me,

I thought the film started off kind of hokey. The back talking LT, the officer using soldiers as his personal servant and the all Black brigade with zero self discipline and zero military training. Let alone the deaf soldier sent out to walk down the middle of a road in enemy territory during a war. All those things were so over the top ridiculous that I thought the movie was going to be silliness all the way.

The scene where Lt. Edward Wallace talked to Anna Renvic talked human to human at the German farmhouse on, the movie was pretty good. The last 10 minutes were excellent.

By the way, did you know Robert Hooks who played Lt. Edward Wallace escorted Condoleezza Rice to many social events when she was U.S. Secretary of State? Good choice to have as arm candy as far as I'm concerned.

No two persons ever watch the same movie.
