Proggy Rock Soundtrack for a Movie about Skins + Suedes?

Outside of some clips on YouTube, I never had the chance to see this film in it's entirety. One thing, however, which struck me as definitely out-of-place is the soundtrack... Audience?!?

The music should be rocksteady and some ska, perhaps even a bit of Slade or the Sweet, but not some artsy fartsy outfit like Audience.

Agree.

The film should be rescored with tracks by Desmond Dekker, Toots and the Maytals, Jimmy Cliff. The audience for "This is England.." would love it.

I'm glad you've noticed the music being out of place, as well.

Yes, those reggae artists you've mentioned and perhaps some of the glam and/or yobbo rock bands of that time (The Sensational Alex Harvey Band, Mott the Hoople or, like I've already mentioned, Slade and the Sweet).
