Your thoughts on the movie?

Well I've seen this movie since before I can even remember how old I was the first time...and I really like it. It's fun, it's educational, it's exciting, it has a lot of great music. It has a lot of great qualities...

Now somebody, and I really don't remember who, or if I do I don't want to, commented that he thought the movie, particularly the ending, sucks because we're no longer in a world where kids can fly kites and play baseball in the field and jump rope and shoot marbles. What kind of flying saucer did he crawl out of? Kids can do the exact same things today that they did in the movie, it's just that with the invasion of electronics like video games, cell phones, iPods and everything else, kids who get addicted to that don't get interested by the idea of going out and playing.

You can stop now, davidtmail. We all know you don't like this movie, you've already posted your opinions on it over five times. Run along and play.

Indeed...if you hate something so much, why bother coming to the board for it, surrounded by people who do, and without even a complaint with legs to stand on?

How about you drawah? What'd you think of it?

I really enjoyed it, particularly the music. That was one of the highlights for me. I liked the story too, and found the ending very sad, in a good way. I like most Peanuts stuff anyway though.

Too true, too true. That's something I think about quite a bit, that's a little logic everybody needs to take into consideration when they think something in their day has gone so wrong, but did they notice, the world didn't come to an end.

I too grew up loving the Peanuts Gang, so we watched every Charlie Brown cartoon that was on TV...and by the time I was 8 I pretty much peaked there...because after I was 8, they pretty much quit showing Charlie Brown on TV as a whole. And today, I speak to very few kids who are familiar with it, my 3 neighbor kids had never even heard of Charlie Brown, had no idea what it or Peanuts or any of it was, and one of them wore a Snoopy shirt all the time! So I got them books and tapes and now they're liking it. But I think they should put the Charlie Brown cartoons back on TV for the kids of today to see.

And I agree that at the end of the day there will always be kids who enjoy real playing more than the TV or computer, but they just strike me as a dying breed in this day and age, and that's a horrifying thing to consider. But it does seem true in some instances, all these toys and games and being made into computer and handheld versions, a lot of the new games for kids have DVDs with them so you have to watch the screen to go along with playing, can't just pick up a card and go across the board. Then there's the video games with the equipment so you play virtual sports in front of the TV all day, keeping them inside and in front of the TV more than before. That's a sad state of affairs in my opinion.

I think his argument had less to do with the proliferation of technology, but more to do with the amount of crime that is present in our world, these days there are child molesters and gangs everywhere. It's not that kids no longer want to do such things, it's just no longer safe to do so. But what do I know, I'm just an ignorant Gen Y.

It's my opinion, get over it

I don't think it is a masterpiece. I have the feeling they are trying to stretch the running time by having scenes in there that really don't have to be there and stop the film cold. The whole Schroder playing Beethoven is not necessary, for example.

Chuck's reaction to being called a blockhead at the end was perfection.
