cigarette lighter (spoiler)

A good film, though I think it could have been improved at one point. The drama about Helene discovering the lighter at a murder scene (and subsequently seeing Popaul with what looks like the same lighter) rests on the premiss that it's an unusual if not unique model of lighter. But for all we know it could have been a common model of lighter and of scant evidential value. It would have been better if when the gift was accepted there had been a couple of extra lines, something like
POPAUL: What a fine thing - I've not seen one quite like it!
HELENE: Yes, it is unusual. It's specially for you.
