Elliott Gould pool scene

GROSS! Did they not have waxing back in 1969? If I had hair all over my back and shoulders I would be going broke at the salon.

Like Cliff Clavin, my brain is full of useless trivia

The movie is on tv right now, so I have no idea what else they show later. I just caught the pool scene.

Taking that perspective of being in that frame of Bob and Carol and Ted and Alice frame of satirical humor....remember, 1969 was before men grew to be so metro sexual...and 'men' were indeed 'men'.

So either be yourself ('let it all hang out' as they said back then) or make others rich by letting them convince you that yourself isn't good enough to be.

Spot on! A standing ovation from me for that response!

Well-said! When I'm at the pool or the beach, I see a lot of guys with back hair, I think actors then (and singers, etc.) were just natural and following their own philosophy.

James Caan has a lot of back hair too.

Ha LOL Well said and hits the target dead-eye. Surprisingly the waxing set (people) is far fewer than people are lead to believe. Yeah I wanna be like Jersey Shore spazes manscaping anyone? No Thanks

God, i agree it was gross. And the way the hair moved in the water - man, i nearly chucked up!

Back in the eighties, when Tom Selleck was Magnum P.I. he showed lots of chest hair, and women thought he was sexy.

The late 60's thru the 80's were hairy ttines

Actually, you'd have to work pretty hard to convince me that the hairy times didn't go way back from the 80's. Not sure how much whole-body waxing, or shaving or whatever, was going on in the 50s, 20's, 1800s, middle ages, although, I suppose, maybe the Romans and the Greeks were a little tidy that way.
