Not sure which version we`re going to get but stated running time is 3h:15m with advert breaks.All previous UK screenings(and there have only been 2 that I can recall in the last 25 years!!!)have been the chopped,hacked and badly dubbed 120m print.
shareNice. Going by the other rare Yugoslav war films that's been shown on there recently, it'll be (or as close to) the full thing in original dub. It should be longer than 120 mins with that sort of running time, even with breaks.
shareThe version shown on Movies for Men comes to 145 minutes with the commercials removed. The Partisans speak in their native language and the Germans speak in German. The English speakers - Brynner and Welles are dubbed from English, but everything is subtitled fairly well into English.
The print is in 16:9, but the subtitles sit below the image, so it doesn't look too great on a widescreen TV (I set my display to Subtitle Zoom). The print is quite grainy and not as good as the dubbed version shown on ITV 20 years ago, and the colours are muted. But I'm pleased to have the longer version.
I haven`t had a chance to watch it yet but that sounds good.I saw a curious film called "The Bridge" the other day which has some decent action scenes and although in the original language, some of the English subtitling is excentric to say the least!Plot revolves around a small squad of partisans ,with a couple of Italian deserters, who must destroy a strategic bridge before more German forces arrive.Sub plots of double agents and traitors keep things relatively interesting.Staying with partisans, the same channel is showing "Battle Of Sutjeska" with Richard Burton as Tito in the next few weeks.On the trailer Burton seems to be dubbed into English although on the old video copy(The Fifth Offensive)it`s his own voice.We`ll have to wait and see.Great little channel this with loads of relatively obscure war films.

Yes this M4Men print is certainly the best I`ve come across although I timed it at about 157m without adverts.Picture is approx 2.35:1 widescreen although quality is almost like a sub-standard video . It`s also the longest version I`ve ever seen and most actors speak in their original language.Strange scene where General Morelli(Anthony Dawson)briefly converses in French with Curd Jurgens!!!
Some scenes appear in a slightly different order:the Chetnik speech is at the beginning of the film and some scenes from the chopped English language print,such as the Poet(originally guarded by the reluctant Zika)struggling across the damaged bridge and Franco Nero jumping from the lorry are missing.
Favourite "new" scene has to be poor Morelli committing suicide in the hut-superbly done and generally well played by Anthony Dawson(Prof Dent in Dr No) considering he was dubbed.
