DVD,

I can not beleive that this Richard Lester Classic has never been released on any format. It has not been shown on US TV in years. I happen to have a copy, taped many many many years ago, uncut. The film is still massivly hillarious from the opening scene, where peter cook tells the electric man not to stop moving on the bike, he is powering the electric to all england, and of course Frank Thorton as the BBC man who comes to peoples dwellings, and puts his face into the tv is just purely classic. United Artists released the film in the US, and I beleive that MGM owns the catalog. Maybe MGM/UA will release it on their avant-garde cinema lable.

MGM/UA has an avant-garde cinema lable?

reply

Yes and it might release the nearly unknown "Reaming of JC" by Milligan's uncle Rastus Keefaffer.

Nothing exists more beautifully than nothing.

It airs tonight on TCM at 4:15am. I'll try to record it in widescreen off TCM HD, onto a DVD. I can upload, if necessary.

I got mine as a bootleg. A double feature with "How I Won The War"...

Off ebay, of course

Amazon UK currently has a DVD of 'The Bed Sitting Room' tentatively listed (with the ASIN: B00005JNFT) but there is no release date (or really any other helpful information at all) on the page.

But that might mean that it is in the early stages of being released on DVD. Having an official ASIN is a good sign (that means that an item has been uploaded to the Amazon catalogue. It's usually the first piece of information about a new item that Amazon will publish on their site, before any other details are available or confirmed.)

At the moment the Amazon listing page just says "We will email you when this title becomes available." But unfortunately I have known things listed like that on Amazon to disappear suddenly, so who knows...

I hope it does get released. I'd certainly buy it.

Wow, I sure hope it gets officially released on dvd! I checked amazon.com website and saw what is similiar to the amazon UK website as well...It may be released in a few months? I guess who knows at this point..I'm keeping my fingers crossed :)

Apparently if you get on an amazon waiting list it registers to the DVD Gods and helps them to decide to release the film. So I registered.
