I love the part when...

Okay I mainly just created this topic so I could sum up all of my gushing ^^
And you guys could join...Even though 80% of the time this board is pretty empty...

Anyways.

I love the part when Henry is explaining to Anne how he's not really married to Catherine and he's all awkward and talking in third person
"I was 17 and she was 23..So..England married Spain, not Henry married Catherine.."
I found that oddly amusing and kind of cute.

And of course, I loved the part in the end when he slaps her but she doesn't budge...I know I know you guys have already heard me say it, but I LOVE THAT!
I'm teaching myself to be angry like that, instead of getting stupid, I'll get clever and smart and huffy...That's cool anger. rofl I sound like a weirdo...

And and I loved the part when he doesn't win court..Again and Anne is just standing in the doorway looking smart "Aw..Poor Henry.." XD I. Loved. That.

And and and I love the part when..I just loved it all...

But I hated the execution part, her face how she looks so scared (well of course with good reason)
It tore my heart in half...Also when she gets arrested...She was having such a good time with her daughter and everything was good and happy, then BAM she's taken and they never see eachother again...
I hate that.. But the movie needs it to be what it is..

Alright, I'm done...For now

Bwahahhahahahaha....*coughs and shuts up*

I love how good Genevieve Bujold was as Anne.

Oh yes! It's like she was BORN to play that role!! Not only did she look amazingly like Anne (the flowing black hair, the flashing black eyes, the quirky beauty and the elegance) but even that slight French accent...after all, even tho Anne was English, she was pretty much reared in the French court and she had spoken French on a daily basis for years--I betcha the real Anne might have come back to England with just a hint of a French accent! I recall reading that one French diplomat stationed in England met Anne and later said that one might have easily mistaken her for a native Frenchwoman--high praise indeed from a proud Frenchman!!! :)

It's interesting that you found a "slight French accent" in Bujold's Boleyn, because Bujold is French-Canadian and a fluent speaker of French. In 1973 she made a great Canadian movie called "Kamouraska", in which she spoke only French. Another fiery performance!

I thought she looked familiar....I had seen her in "Earthquake". I didn't know that she was that good of an actress. I just finished watching this movie and it's 2:30am. I couldn't stop watching. The end just left me near tears. Watching young Elizabeth's face after her mother is executed....well, it's bittersweet to know that her future as Queen was secured. Henry VIII was a pig.

Ah, a fellow Thousand Days/Anne Boleyn groupie, I see! I love all the scenes
where she tells Henry off. "You asked me not to treat you as a king. I would
have lied to the king." "I have been taken medication for a cold; my breath
is foul." "That put on, kindly, hail-fellow-well-met act of yours. You're
spoiled, and vengeful, and bloody. Your poetry is sour, your music worse.
My father's house will be pulled down, they tell me. Well pull it down, Your
Majesty, you ARE what I said." "I can be angrier than you've seen me yet..."

Really???!!!

Adore you, Genvieve and Anne!

You know what the real Anne said moments before her execution?? "Commend me
to his Majesty and tell him that he hath been constant in his career of advancing me. From a private gentlewoman he made me a countess, from a
countess a queen. And now, having no higher degree of earthly honour, he awards my innocence the crown of martyrdom." What a woman!!

I love that scene! She is just so defiant and the way she turns Henry's accusations and paranoia on him is just magnificent.

"You asked me not to treat you as a king. I would
have lied to the king." "I have been taken medication for a cold; my breath
is foul." "That put on, kindly, hail-fellow-well-met act of yours. You're

Yes! So great to see someone let Henry have it for once.

The scene where she finds out that Hanry is going to accuse her of incest and you can just see the hope go out of her and sort of defiant resolution to her fate just so poignant:
"Incest?... Oh God help me, the King is mad. I am doomed."

I genuinely believe that Genvieve Bujold performance in this film is one of the greatest performances I've ever seen. She is absolutely electric and deserved the Oscar.

I don't believe the real Anne was that defiant, although it makes good movie drama. She knew where her bread and butter came from. I think perhaps that after she lost her last child, the long awaited boy, she pretty much gave up, knowing Henry was looking elsewhere, and in a case of bad judgement, started acting openly flirtatious and brash, which gave Cromwell the evidence he needed to have her put away in the Tower.

I've loved this movie for years! I have so many favorite scenes:

First, I love the moment when Anne realizes she loves Henry and finally gives in to him--so romantic!
I also loved the scene in the tower, where Anne uses the 100-day markers to count out the thousand days she spent with Henry, even though it drove me crazy(she only used 9 markers=900 days).

Hemingway once wrote, the world is a fine place, and worth fighting for. I agree with the 2nd part.

Loved so many parts in this movie. I did like the marker count in the tower. I liked the time where they first slept together, Henry speaking of becoming the king he always wanted to be - wise and generous - since it would never be realized. In one of the scenes where she insults him, afterwards, she begs him not to hurt Harry Percy and he responds "I'll try not! Vengeful and bloody as I am, I'll try not!"

One of my favorite scenes is where Cardinal Woolsey is warning him against annulling his marriage to Catherine. You can see the emotion and anger mounting in him and he explodes, "I will marry Anne if it splits the world in two like an apple and flings each half to opposite sides (not entirely sure of the exact quote)!"

I thought Genevieve did an excellent job, but also admired Richard Burton's performance as well.

My favourite scene is at the end...when Anne and Henry meet in the tower and they argue.

I also like the scene when Anne and Henry argue over Jane Seymour.
