'Oblivion' - tribute to Bujold's Anne & Jackson's Elizabeth

In the film, Mary Queen of Scots, Robert Dudley performs a song for Queen Elizabeth that Henry VIII had written for her mother, Anne Boleyn, which is sung to her in the previous film, Anne of the Thousand Days. This video, using M83's song "Oblivion" was conceived as a way of linking mother and daughter from across the confines of their respective films and having both characters narrate the lyrics, as they reach out to each other across time. As Elizabeth is forced to decide the fate of her cousin Mary Stuart, her mother's unjust execution is a recurring factor in her hesitancy to act. Lyrics are included as annotations so you can follow this connected narrative:

Do we know for a fact that this was true?
