Shrdlu ?

Julian Glover is down as playing a character called Shrdlu. This must be some kind of in-joke, and I assume he is never addressed by that name.

"shrdlu" is a "word" created by running one finger down the second column of keys of a linotype machine (a thing the size of a large wardrobe that casts type-metal into lines of type, hence the name). The first column generates "Etaoin" and the two together are approximately the descending order of frequency of letters in English. Lines with these "words" were used as fillers, and appeared in print only by mistake.

If not a joke, I'm wondering whether this is an IMDb mistake.

Shrdlu is the name of the woeful character that Mr. Zero meets in the afterlife in Elmer Rice's 1923 expressionistic play The Adding Machine. The role was created on Broadway by Edward G. Robinson and played in the 1969 film version by... Julian Glover!
