Lyrics to final song in the movie

Does anyone know if it is possible to obtain the lyrics to the poignant song ("How small we are")that comes at the end of the movie?

reply

I once had a copy of this music, and was trying to research it and track it down. I knew the title and composer. I found the website referenced below that has the lyrics as well as some info from the composer and lyricist, Earl Wilson, Jr.

It is a terrific song and I hope someone contacts Mr. Wilson, gets the music, and includes it on an album or in a cabaret act. I had no idea it was apparently written for this late-60's movie, but its theme is certainly more relevant today than ever!

Hope this helps.

Thanks to Donato for the info on where to find the lyrics. It's a shame that Mr.Wilson was not given credit for the music in imdb or any other movie site. It's also interesting to note Mr.Wilson wrote both the music and the lyrics to the song. Not many songwriters do both.Meredith willson and Frank Loesser are the only two I can think of.

All the talk about this song inspired me to comb through my extensive piano music collection on a quest to find it. Lucikly, I located a copy, albeit a tattered and yellowing one. In any event, I've been playing it a lot and consider it a "lost" jewel. We may be among the very few people in the entire universe who remember the song and appreciate it. Go figure!

Cole Porter stands out as a superb composer-lyricist who rarely ever, if at all, collaborated with other songwriters when he wrote his show scores.

Here's another link to the lyrics, very simple but very profound.

However, it also has a discography and publishing info for those that are interested. It came out as a single back in the day, but is also available on CD!
