Is This movie rated R or PG?

I recently bought a copy and it was rated PG. Everything I have read and seen on various web sites say it is R. Which is it? Are there two different versions?

When I saw this movie in 1969 it was rated R. There is a scene at the begining of the movie with a nude woman. That was enough for a R rating in 1969. When I watched the DVD the woman's breast were only partially covered by her long hair. I don't remember if this was a different version of the same scene or not. 1969 was a long time ago and I was too young to be in an R rated movie so my memory may be tainted. The DVD box does say "PG". I guess a little partial nudity doesn't rate a automatic R rating anymore.

It's simple, guys. MPAA standards for both nudity and violence have grown more tolerant (some can read: lax) over the past 38 years. Therefore, quite a few films have been rerated less restrictively than upon their original release. MIDNIGHT COWBOY and A CLOCKWORK ORANGE, for instance, both had their initial X ratings -- the equivalent of today's NC-17 -- changed to an R for separate, subsequent rereleases. Neither film had anything cut, but the ratings board decided upon later appeals that those films' content no longer required the stricter ratings. And it's the same for 100 RIFLES: Soledad Miranda's brazen nudity was "hotter" in early 1969 to an audience that still wasn't used to seeing much flesh, than to a later audience raised on premium channels.

The above pretty much sums it up. Today you have to get pretty strong before even getting to a PG-13. There have been a few grumblings that the rating system needs another overhaul because of changing standards. That said, even by today's standards I don't understand why 100 Rifles isn't at least a PG-13 -- some of the scenes (violent and sexual) are pretty intense for PG. Its possible it might be a "default" rating since films made before 1969 seem to be considered somewhat more family friendly than those that came after.

the movie has a scene in which Raquel shares intimacy with Jim Brown.. it is because of this scene that the movie has an R rating. It was a daring scene as in those times a love scene between a hot blond and a colored man was unimaginable...

Not really what about the BLOOD and killings I saw this on TV many years ago,but of tv is all ways cut.But I believed this film was rated R for a lot of thing that were on screen at that time.I seen film like a"FEW DOLLARS MORE","THE GOOD,THE BAD AND THE UGLY" they all had R rating;and that was a drive-in theater when I saw those films.I think the original rating was an R for " 100 Rifles"

I'm watching it now on Fox Movie Channel. In the beginning, Burt is in a hotel room with a woman. There's a quick shot of her on her stomach, where you see her bare fanny, and later some quick shots of a bare breast, nipple and all. That was pretty hot stuff in those days!

If I am not mistaken, wasn't the Magnetic Video version the original R-rated cut?
