Since this started in 1969, how is this STILL in production lol

'Twas on the board for GOldie Hawn's famous 1969 Oscar win "Cactus Plower" which came out the same this format started on Sat.AM.

Since stuff like the minishirt Daphne and Velma wear supposedly wouldn;'t work in modern times, and such, how come this franchise (much more so than Quick Draw and the Flinstones ) is so dang BIG?

Thank u for your time. 

It's not in production. It lasted until 1970. There have been many "updated" shows, tv movies, specials, etc. But it didn't just start in 1969 and is still in production.

The general (but not constant) mystery format often helps these franchises in one sense. There are plenty of other long runners of the format.

That being said Scooby clearly emerged as one of the most enduring and marketable character. As even during the period that his output was down the most, he was still popular enough for reruns and merchandise.

As a side note: we're going to be seeing just how popular some of these old HB names are now that WB has seemingly wised up conventional wisdom wasn't completly accurate.

Regardless though I think it's not changing Scooby Doo is the most popular franchise, and this specific show is the most popular show.

It's amazing to me that this show, all its incarnations, & formula has worked so well over the decades and different generations.

Right up there with Star Trek and Doctor Who for longevity.

It is not our abilities that show who we truly are...it is our choices

I think it's cool that Scooby Doo is still big to this day. But that new cartoon Be Cool Scooby Doo looks pretty bad. I never saw it and I heard Shaggy and Scooby Get A Clue was bad as well. I liked What's New Scooby Doo and Mystery Incorporated though.

Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, and Metallica are Bronies

Animated characters and their movies never die. Despite their 1960s contemporary garb in this one they seem to remain timeless.

I've just seen a couple of episodes from this series as a DVD extra on one of Scooby's latest films. These timeless cartoons are great for anybody who enjoys homages to the old horror movies.
